Nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Kitkajärvi, Holiday Village Himmerki offers a good escape for adventurers and those seeking tranquility alike. Our lakeside villa boasted stunning views and superior amenities, making it a cozy haven after long days of skiing and exploring the Finnish wilderness. The on-site restaurant impressed us with locally sourced dishes; their Haikkuburger was a standout, though I found the sautéed reindeer to be a bit underwhelming compared to the other offerings. The staff, including the warm-hearted owners Helvi and Reijo, made us feel right at home, always ready with a smile and a story about the local culture. We indulged in sauna sessions which, while intimate, were a welcome respite after an adventurous day filled with husky sledding and ice fishing. This blend of luxury and adventure crafted an lovely experience, one that I wholeheartedly recommend for both solo travelers and those seeking rich experiences with companions in this enchanting part of Finland.
